Chili

This is a classic chili meal with beef and beans. Chili is a nice idea if you don’t have too much time but want something tasty for lunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 500g ground beef
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp ground cumin
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 cups beef broth
  • 300g diced tomatoes
  • 250g red kidney beans
  • 1 can tomato sauce

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Pour some olive oil into a large saucepan and put it over medium-high heat for few minutes.
  2. Add diced onion and cook it for 5 minutes, occasionally stirring it.
  3. Add the ground beef into the saucepan.
  4. Break it apart with a wooden spoon.
  5. Stew for 6-7 minutes, until the beef is brown, stirring it.
  6. Add the chili powder, cumin, sugar, tomato paste, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir well.
  7. Add the broth, diced tomatoes, drained beans, and tomato sauce. Stir well.
  8. Bring to boil then, reduce the heat (low to medium-low) to simmer the chili, uncovered, for 20-25 minutes, stirring well.
  9. Turn off the heat.
  10. Let the chili rest for 5-10 minutes.
  11. Serve at the table.

Tips

You don't have to add cayenne pepper if you don't want to make your chili too spicy.
