Ingredients

  • Syrup:
  • 80g of sugar
  • 50g of honey
  • 350ml of water
  • 1½ tablespoon of orange blossom water
  • Cloves
  • Cinnamon
  • Filling
  • 150g of pistachios
  • 55g of walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • Filo pastry sheets
  • Melted butter

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Preheat the pan and mix 80g of sugar and 50g of honey in it
  2. Add 350ml of water, thoroughly mix, and bring to boil
  3. Turn off the heat and add 1 ½ tablespoon of orange blossom water, 2 cinnamon sticks, and a pinch of cloves
  4. Cover with a lid and let it cool
  5. Mix 150g of pistachios, 55g of walnuts, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and grind it into powder
  6. Melt 100-150g of butter
  7. Cut filo pastry sheets so they fit the baking pan you use
  8. Grease your baking pan with some butter and put a filo pastry sheet on the bottom
  9. Grease the layer of pastry and put another pastry sheet on top
  10. Repeat this step until you have 6 layers
  11. Make a layer of nut filling, sprinkle it with some butter and add a layer of filo pastry sheet on top
  12. Make 2 more layers of buttered pastry sheets
  13. Add another layer of nut filling
  14. Make 3 more layers of buttered pastry sheets
  15. Make a layer of nut filling
  16. Repeat these steps until you completely fill your baking pan or run out of ingredients
  17. Cover your baklava with a lid and refrigerate for 1 hour
  18. Remove the baklava from the fridge, cut it into portions using a sharp knife, and bake for 25-30 minutes at 180C or 350F
  19. Strain the syrup
  20. Remove the baklava from the oven and pour the syrup on top
